Bangboo are semi-intelligent devices unique to New Eridu.
Overview[]
Bangboo are small, rabbit-like robots. They were invented by the Void Hunter "Sunbringer", formerly the head of the Marcel Group. Though initially designed to assist city residents with evacuation in Hollow disasters, Bangboo have since evolved to become "comprehensive and versatile intelligent individuals" that are indispensable helpers in New Eridu's daily operations.[1] They continue to be built by the Marcel Group for a variety of purposes, and they are commonly seen in all parts of New Eridu.
Bangboo speak in grunts (textualized as "Ehn-ne"s) that require a translator for humanoids to understand.[2] Some Bangboo exhibit human-like emotions, such as hope, fear, worry, and grief.[3][4] They have been seen to converse and collaborate with each other without human intervention.[5] However, unlike Intelligent Constructs, Bangboo do not have free will, and they are not eligible for New Eridu citizenship.[6] Bangboo without masters are legally required to be scrapped.[7]
Bangboo are mechanical in nature and require charging. Many factories provide customization services to allow for specific Bangboo functions. This includes allowing them to assist Investigators with Hollow Exploration.[1]
Bangboo N.E.T.[]
There seems to be something called the Bangboo N.E.T. (Special Internet Network for Bangboo), though its exact purpose is unknown.
Appearance[]
Most Bangboo are short and stout, only around knee-height.[1] They have rabbit-like ears on the top of their heads, and a black screen for a face, which can display colored circles as eyes. Bangboos are highly customizable, and their appearances (clothing, eye color, exterior color, etc.) can vary greatly. Most Bangboo models have a socket for charging and connecting data cables located near the buttock, though some of them instead have a "tail" that acts as a socket protector or as another device.
Combat Bangboo[]
Combat Bangboo are obtainable units in Zenless Zone Zero.
They come in different Ranks (
-Rank or 
-Rank), may be aligned with an Attribute (
Physical, 
Ice, 
Fire, 
Electric, or 
Ether) and may belong to a Faction.
As a companion in battle, each Combat Bangboo has unique abilities. In addition to using active skills to support Agents in battle, some Combat Bangboo will also have an additional Bangboo Chain Attack. Bangboo Chain Attacks don't count toward the total number of Chain Attacks and have a cooldown, so it can only be used again after the cooldown ends.
How to Obtain[]
Similar to Agents, Combat Bangboo are obtainable through Signal Search. There is a Bangboo Channel that allows for Combat Bangboo to be obtained. The Bangboo Channel requires Boopons to pull for Combat Bangboo. The Channel also comes with a S-Rank selector feature that allows any S-Rank Combat Bangboo to be chosen for the channel.
Progression[]
The Bangboo Channel is unlocked during Frontline Pursuit. Combat Bangboo are addtionally upgradable like characters in this location.
