The Black Anchor is a gang introduced in the Commission "Connecting with the Star (I)". Primarily located in Port Elpis, they come into conflict with Phaethon after one of their thugs is caught threatening Venus.
History[]
At some point, the Black Anchor began making several unidentifiable transactions within the Hollow, the details and participants of which were highly classified. These activities were recorded by Bangboo Merchants, creating the risk of scandal should they be leaked to the public. As such, the gang opted to conduct an operation within the Hollow to wipe out all the Bangboo: the original plan to take out the specific Bangboo with the recording had to be changed due to the Hollow's complex nature making it impossible to find. To that end, the gang posed as normal clients on Inter-Knot and arranged for a rookie Proxy to guide them to the merchants, as hiring a simple rookie would make them easier to kill afterwards.
However, this operation would mark the beginning of the end for the gang. The hired Proxy witnessed the gang members silencing the merchants and secretly sabotaged them before sneaking away. Not long after, the vigilante Bangboo Kami North caught wind of their assault and began hunting the gang down. With the gang coming under pressure, they tracked down Venus (the broker who hired the Proxy for them) and began threatening her to reveal the Proxy's location to them. This attracted the attention of Wise/Belle, who was in Port Elpis at the time and threatened to report them to New Eridu Public Security. Upon learning the situation, they agreed to help relocate Venus to Sixth Street for the time being, only to fall into a trap set up by second-in-command Lana that nearly resulted in the pair getting brutally assaulted by gang members before Kami North arrived to save them. Taking out several thugs, they manage to find out the location of the gang's hideout from one of them before Gerant and Sita arrive on the scene. With the info in hand and Venus' safety assured, Phaethon and Kami North storm the gang's hideout to finally take them down. The members were successfully taken out, with Lana (who attempted to escape with the gang's ledgers and call upon reinforcements) being captured by Public Security thanks to Kami North's anonymous tip, bringing an end to the Black Anchor.
