Critical, aka Critical Hit, abbreviated in-game as CRIT, refers to the random occurrence of an attack dealing increased damage to an enemy.
The probability that an attack will be a CRIT is controlled by the CRIT Rate stat. If the attack is a CRIT, the
CRIT DMG stat will determine the multiplier applied:
All Agents regardless of Rank start with 5% Base CRIT Rate and 50% Base CRIT DMG. These stats can be modified by:
- Agent Combat Skills
- Agent Mindscape Cinemas
- W-Engine Advanced Stats
- W-Engine Effects
- Drive Disc sub-stats
- Drive-Disc Partition 4 main stat.
If the CRIT Rate is equal to 100% or greater, an attack is guaranteed to be a CRIT. If the CRIT Rate is equal to 0% or less, an attack can never be a CRIT.
When the damage dealt by the character triggers a CRIT, the corresponding damage numbers will become more prominent, with a larger font size and an exclamation mark indicator.
CRIT Guarantee[]
The main way to guarantee a CRIT in all cases, is to have 100% CRIT Rate on an Agent, however this can easily lead to an overflow (or excess), if external factors such as W-Engine effects, or other Agents' skills are not factored into the equation. Having over 100% CRIT Rate does not provide any further bonuses, nor does it increase the DMG of a CRIT.
Some Agents also have methods to guarantee a CRIT, without needing to rely on CRIT Rate, such as Jane Doe's Core Passive: Insight, provided Jane herself has at least 375 Anomaly Proficiency.
