Game Systems refer to subsystems within Zenless Zone Zero that the player can interact with, usually to aid in Combat, Progression, and leveling up Agents and equipment.

Combat[]

During Commissions, players will have to battle enemies, which can introduce new systems or mechanics. To challenge harder enemies and defeat them more swiftly, players can level up their Agents, increasing Stats and increasing how much Damage they can deal, while allowing further improvement of Agent's Combat Skills.

Combat and the Attributes are governed by their own physics as well, including Attribute Anomaly and Attribute RES.

Commissions[]

During commissions, players may have to complete special challenges such as wave-defense Hollow Data Pile.

Currency[]

The following in-game currencies are used:

  • Denny: the universal currency of New Eridu, used to purchase items from many shops and level up skills.
  • Polychrome: this special currency is used to Signal Search on event, agent and w-engine banners. Players can obtain new agents by spending Polychrome. They can also be used to replenish Battery Charge.
  • Battery Charge: a kind of currency used to gain rewards from the various gamemodes at the HIA Club and Scott Outpost. There is a cap for Battery Charge and it can regenerate over time. There is a backup system that allows for over-capping called Backup Battery Charge.

Monetization[]

Players can also spend real-life money to gain access to things that free-to-play players otherwise cannot. They can spend money on:

Progression[]

There are various progression systems in the game as the player levels up their own agents and gains experience while exploring and progressing in the game's story:

  • Inter-Knot Level: will unlock new features, quests, and systems within the game.
  • Compendium: by completing special tasks, the player can gain access to rewards via chapters in the handbook.
